Makers Street Artwalk in Lindsborg

Date: April 14, 2017, 5:00 PM
Venue: Various Locations - Lindsborg, Ks.

The Event:

Lindsborg downtown studios, galleries, and businesses will host Makers Street Artwalk on Friday, April 14 from 5-8 PM. Lindsborg has long been known as a center for working artists and craftsmen. During the 2nd Friday Artwalk “Main Street” will become “Maker Street” and is a chance for visitors to see art and craft makers’ exhibitions and demonstrations. The Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S Main St., will host a reception for author, poet and journalist Brian D’Ambrosio of Montana and three “outsider” or “grass roots” artists. Also on hand to discuss their crafts or art environments will be Ron Lessman (Truckhenge) of Topeka, pictured here is Woody Logback (mechanical dioramas and toys) of McPherson, and Mri-Pilar (hybrid creatures) of Lindsborg. “Outsider” art is made by people with no formal training using unconventional materials in unconventional ways. It is art produced by self-taught artists who are, generally, not part of the artistic establishment. Other outsider artists participating at downtown spaces for the Makers Street Artwalk will be Riley Fouts, Falun, artist, story teller and maker of unusual bath and beauty products, who will be sharing at Chestnut Studio, 118 S. Main; Barbara Kissick, Lindsborg, decorative and folk art painting will be exhibiting her beautiful painted Easter eggs at Collections and Essentials, 110 S. Main. Other featured outsider artists are Lloyd Rohr, Lindsborg, metal sculpture at Rendezvous Adventure Outfitters, 113 N. Main; Randy Oberly, Hutchinson, mono prints and collage work at Nextech, 126 N. Main; and Lisa Mena, Kansas City, twisted wire jewelry at The Ivory Thimble.
