Cameo Glass in Context: Charlotte Potter and April Surgent

Date: June 9, 2018 to September 9, 2018,
Venue: Wichita Art Museum - 1400 W. Museum Blvd., Wichita

The Event:

"Cameo Glass in Context: Charlotte Potter and April Surgent" explores exquisite historic objects and compelling contemporary art that use cameo-carved glass as their medium. Potter and Surgent's work centers on contemporary topics that include social networks, urban landscape, and environmental change, which contrast with the themes of older cameo glassmakers, which include individual portraiture, decorative patterning, and romantic landscapes. The exhibition is guest-curated by Vicki Halper, former curator at the Seattle Art Museum, and it will borrow from the artists, as well as private and public collections. The exhibition complements the Wichita Art Museum's extensive Steuben glass collection.
