Native America Celebration Day

Date: October 6, 2018,
Venue: Mid-America All-Indian Center - 650 N. Seneca, Wichita

The Event:

Native America Celebration Day Activities

  •  Trail of Tears Memorial Walk – 10 a.m. to Noon This walk honors those who suffered during The Trail of Tears, and keeps this piece of American history in people’s minds. The walk will begin at the Indian Center at 10 a.m.
  •  Native America Fair – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids can experience fun, hands-on education stations located throughout the museum.
  •  Traditional Indian Meal – Noon to 1 p.m. (free)

Experience a traditional meal of fry bread and corn soup. The meal is free, and will be served as long as food lasts.

  •  Dance Exhibition – Noon to 1 p.m. Watch the dances of local Native American tribes, accompanied by a powwow drum performance.
  •  Wounded Knee Survivors Run Presentation - 1 p.m. The Wounded Knee Survivors Run group will discuss the challenges of living on the reservation vs. the urban life.
