In 1880 Kansas began a grand social experiment as the first state to outlaw general sale of alcohol. This was the first step toward a nationwide prohibition of alcohol and an amendment to the constitution. What were the factors leading up the action in 1880 and why was Kansas so ripe for such an act of social activism. How did this drive affect those in Wichita' We will explore the beginning forces and the local actors that set the trend for National action.
