Radio Kansas broadcasts in
HD Radio

We're pleased to present our full-service public broadcast signal via digital HD Radio technology in the 90.1 FM listening area. This technology allows additional channels and Radio Kansas was proud to present this additional service. Unfortunately, changes in paperwork have expanded the workload required to submit copyright royalty documentation. Paperwork formerly managed on a daily or even monthly basis now requires hour-by-hour manipulation.

We are attempting to automate some of this additional data capture, but - with no real additional income derived from offering these streams - our budget for such software is limited. If you wish to submit a statement in support or one or more of these channels (to help us support a grant request!) Please write to comments@radiokansas.net

How do I get this station over the air in digital sound?

Our digital HD Radio signal reaches the vast majority of Radio Kansas listeners over the air. Next time you purchase a radio, just make sure it has the official HD Radio logo shown above. This is new technology and hardware is in short supply, but you can get an HD Radio for about $50 from Best Buy! Over half of all new cars offer HD Radio as an option, and Crutchfield and Amazon.com would love to sell you an aftermarket car stereo with HD. Once you have your HD Radio, you'll find that other stations offer hidden channels, and many of them are commercial-free, too!

How do I find a new HD radio?

A simple web search for HD Radio, will probably bring up many non-HD Radios. Same with a search at Amazon.com. Website still use the term "HD" to try to say that their radio is high quality. They're simply not aware that HD Radio is a trademarked term intended only for radios with this new digital technology. Again, look for the logo!

We've provided a list below to highlight only real HD Radios. Just click on the picture to visit the product's webpage!

Best Buy's Insignia brand offers a tabletop HD Radio for around $50.

There's an Insignia portable (iPod-sized) HD Radio for around $45.

This HD Radio at Amazon.com has a mono speaker but a stereo headphone jack to connect to your home stereo.

Aftermarket Car Stereos with HD Radio are no more expensive than non-HD Radios! You just have to make sure that official logo is on the faceplate. Here's a Pioneer and a Kenwood, each available for less than $120!
