On Oct 13th we will be honoring a good man and big part of the music community in Wichita.
Mike Pickens, lived his life trying to make every musician he met sound great and have the best show possible that night. He traveled the highways and byways with bands of all kinds making the life he always dreamed of since he was a teen. On tour with musicians that loved music as much as he did.

Mike had been sick with pancreatitis, sepsis and renal failure. He was on the mend, his family thought. On Saturday Aug 18th he went into a cardiac arrest. Complications caused from the above mentioned illnesses, led to respiratory failure. He was found unresponsive. He was airlifted to Wichita where he remained on life support in a vegetative condition but, did have some brain stem function. Being without oxygen that long had caused brain damage. If Mike was to ever wake up he would be in a vegetative condition the rest of his life. He fought hard until he just couldn't any longer and passed on the Aug 29th.

With all these medical issues and the unfortunate passing created a large finicial strain for his family. The musicians of Wichita spoke loud saying “ We owe it to Mike as his friends that loved him dearly to help his family and pay tribute”. That is why Rock Fest for Mike Pickens is important to these musicians using their god's gift of talent with their music and raise A LOT of money to help his family with this unimaginable tragic lose of a great friend, father, dad and son. So please join us to celebrate and help us help them.
